A most marvellous day out!

What a fabulous day. I organised a meet up from the Marvelletes group on Facebook to go to Cahoots which I'd been to before but had been wanting to go with like-minded people from our 40s/50s Facebook group. It just so happens that Lucy (from Era Go Again & my flatmate) had also organised a meet up at the King's Cross Classic Car Boot Show which was on the same day so we decided to combine them. Unfortunately Lucy couldn't come (but read all about her weekend in Cardiff where she went to a vintage flea market on her blog) but plenty of other Marvelette's did. 

Sadly the weather was a bit up and down that day and I was in such a rush, I was feeling so flustered when I met my Mum at King's Cross tube station. All I can say is, thank god I remembered my umbrella then it truly would have been a bad day (for my hair at least).

Myself and my Mum met the gorgeous Carrie from Something Definitely Happened and Catherine from Vintage Frills, Rhina, Nicole from Coco Von Vintage and Holly, The Vintage Girl. It was absolutely amazing to spend the day in the company of these women, whose blogs I all adore and especially all of their styles. What I love about the vintage world, is getting to meet so many different people. For example, Rhina is a Doctor and works at a herbarium, speaks 6 different languages and dresses impeccably with her own vintage style! It's amazing to be in company such as hers. We all have and create our own take on Vintage fashion so it's always inspiring to be around women such as these. 

The car boot sale was a pleasure to walk around. As we laughed and joked and checked out all of the clothing stalls, people would keep taking our photos. Some men wanted photos with us! It was utterly bizarre but I think we were the only group that were really dressed up for it. Which is funny, because I don't feel dressed up. This what I like to wear normally. It's strange that it can seem so different to others. 

The cars were amazing to look at and I got so much envy at all the vintage clothing I knew I wouldn't be able to fit into; this is why I love vintage reproduction so much! 

We also bumped into Florence from The Street Style Carousel who took all of our photos for her blog. As I write this my photo is up on her blog and I absolutely adore it. She's such a talented photographer. It was a really cool experience being photographed by her for her blog as I love her work. 

The weather was so stop and start. When it was raining we were huddled by the old routemaster bus-turned-bar sipping our drinks and waiting for the rain to go back in. But when the sun came out, it was glorious. 

So after the boot sale, we made our way over to the west end where we enjoyed a drink in the pub before heading to cahoots. Doesn't Nicole look like an absolute princess? I adore her change of outfit! We made our way to Cahoots where we had a two hour table booking.

Pinup Picnic In The Park!

Thanks to the wonderful British Belles for such a beautiful picnic event on Saturday in Hyde Park; what's not to love about a day full of beautiful pin-up ladies (and some men too which was nice to see), finger sandwiches, snacks, and copius amounts of Pimms? Nothing! 

The day started off by meeting up by up at Marble Arch at 11. I was having a total nightmarish morning because I did not sleep well the night before so I woke up running and late and MY WET SET DIDN'T DRY IN TIME; I honestly felt like crying! I didn't like the way my make-up went either because I was rushing so I felt like screaming...I mean why do my wet sets always turn out amazing when I have no where to go?! Total #pinupgirlproblems I know!

I was delighted to meet all of these wonderful ladies when I arrived at Marble Arch. I thought I was running super late but in perspective I was quite early as we were hanging about this area for the good part of an hour. I liked this though because I was enjoying seeing people arrive. The oddest part had to be when tourists were walking right up to us taking photos and not even giving a damn in the world. It was pretty funny and people were admiring our style which was lovely.

Eventually we all moseyed on over to the Marble Arch section of Hyde Park, where Taylor Swift also happened to be playing that day, so it's safe to say there was quite an atmosphere about. We sat down to enjoy some drinks, snacks and sandwiches and I had gotten full very quickly so I ended up drinking quite a bit of Pimms. I'd like to say that all the food I'd been snacking on had soaked up the alcohol but nope, I was tipsy!

Holly had the absolutely cutest bag as you can see above! All of the women looked absolutely amazing and it was so nice to chat and get to know people I've met over the internet, in person. 

This photo of Blaire - www.oldisnowvintage.com, is probably my favourite of the day, she looks so gorgeous! I was definitely most envious of her Vivien of Holloway dress too.

It was so great to me Tanya and Kayla both whom I discovered through Instagram. I think we had such a laugh, especially in the afternoon when we all had to move towards to shade because it had gotten far too hot. 

The day overall was just simply beautiful, you couldn't fault it at all; the sky was clear blue with no clouds in sight. Ladies and gentlemen alike were slathering on the sun cream to stay protected. It was also nice that there were a few photographers floating about, it felt really good to have a photo taken. 

It was also wonderful to meet some of the Belle's too, who looked even more beautiful in person; they really did organise an incredible event for so many like minded people, I couldn't of wished for a better day. So thank you Belle's for bringing together so many lovely people! Moreover, the event in total raised over £1000 for Macmillan cancer which is astounding so we all got to have incredible fun whilst raising money for an important cause.
