So I hit up the Playful Promises sale....

Okay so this is something I'm going to have to come right out and say before I continue this post any further; I broke the bra. That's right, I bloody BROKE IT. So you know I just went on holiday to Turkey right? well, as we're getting ready to get head out for the evening, Georgie is in the bathroom and whilst I'm in the bedroom dressing, I must have pulled the strap too tight (somehow, I've not even figured that out at this point) because it came snap away from the fabric. To say I'm devasted is an understatement but I really need to learn how to chill, as it's easily fixable. We will be together again.

Playful Promises is a brand I've been looking at from afar and admiring for a while; they're a London born and bred brand which I love as a fellow Londoner. I hadn't had much money spare to spend on a full set in the regular range, so when they held a sale a few weeks ago I jumped at the chance and bought a few bits. I was delighted because I got to snap up three, yes THREE matching bra and knickers sets and a basic black multiway bra for £51. Needless to say, it was a good day when I put through that order.

This is the 'Ghost' retro set in which both the bra and high waisted knickers are a size 14. I have to say, I think they both come up a bit small for a 14 but I found they were a really nice, snug fit. As a smaller breasted woman, I adore a good soft cup bra and I rejoice in it when I can find one which is not lace (I have too many of those).  What drew me to this set was not only the price, £5 for each piece, but the gorgeous silky, grey and floral pattern. However when it arrived, I had no idea it would feel so great to wear on the skin. Ideally, I should have sized up if could have but I think this will have to do, I don't really have any other choice do I?

This set manages to make me feel both sexy and cute, so it's perfect for wearing on days you might not feel so good bout yourself. I know I felt so good when I put this on. All I have left to do now is work on fixing the strap again so I can go back to lounging around in it...

I have a couple of more sets to show you which will be up on here over the next few weeks.

What Katie Did - Morticia Corset

A few weeks ago I popped along after my hair appointment, to Collectif's store in Spitalfields. It wasn't far from where I had my hair done and I knew that they had a What Katie Did concession stand in their store, so it was finally a prime time for me to check out my first corset!

I'd been contemplating getting a corset for about a year or so now, but I've never really had the money or guts to go out and invest in one. Once I'd started following Georgina from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust's blog and social media posts, I saw that she often wears the Morticia corset from What Katie Did. I mean, she looks fantastic so I slowly turned more and more into getting one too.

I'm glad I chose to go down to the Collectif Spitalfields store because the girls in there were so incredibly helpful.I must have been in there for at least half hour whilst they helped me into a Morticia and made sure I was comfortable. It felt like a really personal and relaxed experience. Because I suffer with bad Anxiety, I usually get really nervous going into shops and asking for help but this was so lovely and I didn't feel silly at all.

I obviously had to go in for a selfie in the changing rooms. It was the first time that I had ever tried on a corset so I was gob smacked at what it did for my body. I felt so so sexy.

The Morticia - aptly named after Morticia Addams - is a longline steel boned corset that pulls your waist in to accentuate a curvy vintage figure. This particular corset is made of black satin so it feels extremely luxurious

The price is set at £159.50 which really is reflected in the care and build of the corset. It's an investment and will last for years on end. It's beautifully crafted and you can tell they are made with the best materials.

It didn't feel uncomfortable at all, which I was really surprised about. I wasn't expecting pain or anything, I had done reading up on them beforehand, but despite being laced as tight as it would allow, it felt strangely good. There wasn't pain or pressure on any of my body parts, so I have no idea what I was worried about.

With the corset, I am wearing House of Satin's longline bra and high waisted panties. Their retro lingerie matches my corset and they compliment each other massively.

In the past couple of weeks I have been trying to learn how to put on my corset by myself as I don't really have anyone apart from my boyfriend to help me put it on. I'm not very good at it and the above picture shows it's not as tightly laced as it was done in the shop. I'm hoping with time and practice I will pick it up, I'm sure I will!

I'm hoping in the future, my next purchase will be an overbust corset, but not yet. I'll be loving this one for a long long time!

Do any of you have any tips on putting on a corset alone? What are your experiences with corsets in general? I'd love to read some other peoples views and experiences.

House of Satin retro lingerie.

House of Satin are a brand I've discovered through Instagram. Oozing with pin up and retro vibes, they create handmade pieces right here in Britain. The thing that surprised me the most though, is the prices; I've yet to find a retro lingerie company that creates underwear at affordable prices, which I've never really disputed as I know it takes a lot of time and money to go into lingerie that is both beautiful and well made.

I've mostly had to adore lingerie companies like What Katie Did from afar as I've never been able to justify spending over £100 on a lingerie set, I totally understand why others do though.

So upon discovering House of Satin, I thought surely something must be up! From looking at their pieces on their website, everything seemed so beautiful and the prices were so affordable!

I opted for the Powder Blue satin set; the bra, knickers and the suspender belt set me back just £29. Incredible value.

Here's a quick snap from the bathroom at work. The stockings are seamed down the back from Ann Summers. I love their stockings personally, they always last a while for me and hold up better than some other brands I've tried.

So I eagerly awaited the arrival of my set and I could not wait to try it all on. The quality is AMMMMMMAZINGGGG and I do not say that lightly. I absolutely cannot believe how much they cost! The thick bra straps (although I do not need much support as I am smaller chested) make you feel more comfortable and supported, whilst the satin feels so lovely against your skin. Although it is a soft cup bra, for me personally it still has the support there and I don't get the annoying 'bounce' when walking that I get with other soft cup underwear sets, I tend to fall out of them as well, so you're very well protected. I couldn't possibly comment on a bigger bust as I don't know what it's like.

I feel I should have ordered a size down in the suspender belt, but sometimes I worry too much about being too "big" for things so I always size up. It's not too much of a worry here, but if I was to be a perfectionist, I'd size down. The suspender belt is perfect for me, I love having six straps on because you do feel more supported. The clips go on and hold the stockings with so much ease, it's a relief. I mean, I cannot STAND suspender belts with just 4 straps as I always find myself coming undone half way into my day and moreover, I cannot stand suspender belts with clips so difficult that you stand around fiddling for half a bloody hour before they eventually clip on to your stockings!

I realise you cannot really see the knickers so I'll show you the picture from their website.

They are really cute, comfortable and have such a luxurious feel to them. You would never believe that they cost only £5.50.

I really believe House of Satin are my new favourite lingerie brand. I've already put in a new order for their longline bra in black and the powder blue satin high waisted knickers just to mix up this set again. I've also ordered a girdle. So I'm sure to make another blog post on House of Satin again soon!

Bra - £9.50
Suspender Belt - £14.00
Briefs - £5.50

Topshop lingerie range.

This may be spontaneous blog post of sorts, but today is my day off and I've been 'oohing' and 'aahing' all morning, whilst "window shopping" online.

For the past few months now, the lingerie range at Topshop has really been impressing me design wise. I find that the downside of this, is the size range. Lingerie departments in shops like this usually means the range of sizes of bras is normally always restrictive. I don't agree with this (and I'm sure most women will not either) at all because it's mostly suggesting that those with larger busts above a D aren't good enough to have their sizes stocked?! It's not great, but that's just the way it right now, I suppose. From other women with larger busts I've spoken to, they're tired of having to spend an extortionate amount of money for bras that are actually pretty, so it would be great if high street shops could extend their ranges. I don't know too much about this subject and why they don't though, so I'm sure there's someone out there with an explanation.

I'm a 36B so I've always been able to find cheaper underwear in shops in my size. I'm fortunate that I haven't had to struggle to find my size in shops.
Primark do some lovely underwear sometimes if you're on a budget but the quality is awful after a few wears.

For a while now, they have been releasing lingerie sets that are more appealing to me for my body type. With high waisted knickers and long line bras, I feel most comfortable and sexy. I also found this the case with bikinis when shopping in-store for my holiday.

They are so cute and lacy and at such an affordable price for a set. I find that there is usually always a code or some kind of discount online to be used on their website as well (I always look before I buy anything online, VoucherCodes usually always have something).

I've bought a few sets from their lingerie range now, and I find them to be a good quality. I've bought a lacey soft bra set in baby blue, and after several washes, it still looks perfectly new and the colour hasn't worn. I find this happens a lot with other brands.  but the main reason that I love their range so much is because they're all so vintage inspired, which is why I absolutely adore them!
