New haircut..total transformation! Rockalily Cuts

new shorter haircut from rockalily with bettie bangsselfie wearing boohoo navy and white heart playsuit with long blonde hair

For the past few years I have been a long haired girl. I've been so in love with my long thick hair, I was so proud of it; but I think it eventually just got on my nerves a bit. Whenever I went out, the wind would keep blowing my hair in my mouth or it'd keep getting caught in my armpit (and yes that is a real long haired problem) but the worst for me though, would have to be not being able to wear bags across your shoulders because your hair would get caught in them. But I did love my long hair, it made me feel like a total princess and I just think it got too unmanageable.

I had an appointment yesterday morning at Rockalily Cuts; a vintage specialist hair salon in the Shoreditch area of East London. I've been totally lusting after going there for a while now, and then I finally got the balls to get an appointment. I have pretty much sat in a safety zone with my hair for a few years now; since 2010, I haven't cut it (except for very small trims and a fringe cut) or dyed it, so I'm all natural)

The plan for me for a while now, has been to cut my hair, so I can curl and style it easier and then dye it ginger. I wanted to do both at the same time but as I'm going away in a few weeks, there's simply no point.

Rockalily Cuts really was everything I hoped for! As a bit of a newcomer to the pin up and vintage styling world, I was a bit nervous. I was scared of feeling and/or looking like a chump, I guess? But no, the girls there are amazing and so so lovely! They made me feel so comfortable and the interior of the place is GORGEOUS and so cute, eeeekk.

When it came to actually having my haircut, I was really surprised; I thought I'd be more nervous, I mean I was about to have all of my hair chopped off? however, I was just excited. A new chapter of my life felt like it was beginning, where I was finding a style that made me feel pretty and glamorous.

I really couldn't of made a better decision if I tried. I think my haircut is so perfect! The fringe is so adorable. Emma, the lady doing my hair, was so helpful in getting me the look I wanted to achieve and she gave me so much advice! I took a lot home from this experience. I know this all sounds a little cringy and cheesy; but after years of being uncomfortable with myself, I'm so excited I've now taken the first proper steps to becoming the pin up obsessed person I am!
