Dress Of The Week #4

You guys may or may not realise that I absolutely adore fun and kitsch prints; one of the reasons I loved getting into pin-up and rockabilly fashion is the fact you can have so much fun with the clothes. I'm a big sucker for adorable prints and if it's lathered in illustrations of obscure objects or y'know, flamingos, then I will have to get my grubby little hands all over it.

Primark have been hot on the kitsch-ey print front recently, and I've been buying most of my clothes from there as it's obviously really affordable. However, I'm currently eyeing up this dress which I discovered on my first ever visit to the Unique Vintage website a few days ago.

The bodice is fitted with a faux button cross over design and a ruffled collar; I adore dresses with a crossover neckline and a cute collar, I feel it gives dresses a sweet and quirky feel. This is a swing dress designed to leave an impression on the eye and from only seeing it on the screen, it has done just this for me. Adorned with cute illustrations of pineapples, Martini glasses and cocktail umbrellas, this is the perfect dress for the summer or a holiday abroad. I imagine wearing it in the evening after a day at the beach when you're on holiday and being so ready for cocktails! The full circle swing skirt billows out from the waist line and it creates the illusion of a smaller waist.

I'd complete this look with a white waist belt from Pinup Girl Clothing and some of the cute white sandals I've been picking up in Primark recently.

Dress of the Week #3

This weeks 'Dress of the Week' comes from the wonderful Pin-Up dress collection by the all inspiring Bernie Dexter. Bernie has created a line of dresses that I have been absolutely lusting over for months on end now. Unfortunately, like Pinup Girl Clothing, Bernie Dexter stockists are very far and few in between in the U.K and it costs quite a bit to import from the U.S.

However, I shall want from afar! I'm a particular fan of Bernie Dexter's Paris dresses; each design and colour way is just as pretty as the next, and I adore the spaghetti style straps. I've yet to own a dress with these style straps so I'm very keen to own this one!

If you know me in any capacity, then you'd know I'm a HUGE lover of dogs; I don't have any, but I'm forever dreaming of the day I get my house and finally get to bring a dog home. So obviously, a dress adorned in dogs, has to be absolutely perfect for me! I have a particularly small bust, so the top part of the dress which looks particularly fitted, seems ideal for me.

Overall, the Paris looks like a perfect summer dress for me and I can't wait to eventually have one in my wardrobe <3

Dress of the Week #2

So it's about time I sang some praise on the amazing Georgina Horne from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust and her vintage reproduction clothing line in collaboration with Lady V London called 'Lady Voluptous'. She released this line back in February after a successful run of her 'Estella' dress design for them last year; since then, she's added new designs to the collection, but I'll talk about that in another post. I've been following her blog for sometime now and I have so much admiration for her; I absolutely love the way she always speaks up against people who feel the need to say whatever they please, in a nasty way, when it comes to body image and the plus size world (actually even against the silly comments she got about her super cute rat posts), because I don't think nasty people or trolls should be ignored to an extent, some people's views are so damaging it's so refreshing to see Georgina stand up to them.

On to her line, she's released a collaboration with Lady V London that includes a selection of different styles of vintage reproduction dresses. One of the most admirable aspects of this line is the amount of sizes the range covers; from a size 16 up to a 32, not many clothing companies do that, so it's fantastic that this range caters to all kinds of women. Unsurprisingly, to me anyway, the bigger sizes did end up selling out very quickly which proves to the fashion industry that bigger women want lovely clothes to wear - well we know that but for some reason the fashion world doesn't seem to!

I have a few favourites I just love, but the Cosette in red rose floral on lilac colour way is the one that stands out to me the most. I'm pretty sure I'd fit into a size 16 okay - I'm between a 14-16 - but the bust will probably be too big on me, one of the reasons I haven't bought it yet. I plan on it though, and adjusting it where needing. I am utterly in love with this dress because it sort of reminds me of Pinup Girl Clothing's Birdie dress but obviously this is at a much cheaper price and much more attainable for everyone in the UK.

I've made the 'Cosette' my 'Dress of the Week' because it's glorious; from the beautiful floral print to the matching wide belt (I bloody LOVE dresses with wide waist belts) that beautifully accentuates the waist, there is nothing I couldn't love about this dress as it's suitable for literally all different shapes of women, something that I have a lot of time for. This dress also comes in four other colour ways and patterns, but this particular colour way is my favourite as I'm in love with the lilac colour with the red roses. I cannot wait to eventually buy this dress and team it with a big, fluffy petticoat.

Check out Lady Voluptuous here!
Have you bought a Cosette or any other dress from this collection?

Dress Of The Week

Now my blog has had it's big transformation, I'm implementing new weekly features. First I started 'Wishlist Wednesday' and 'Friday Favourites' but now I am bringing in 'Dress of the Week'. As you know, I'm a Pin Up fashion blogger, so I spend half of my week looking at and lusting after dresses. This feature will include a mixture of dresses I'm lusting after and also include some I already own and are particularly favouring that week.

For now, this is probably a dress that most likely hasn't escaped your attention. The 'Monica' dress from Pinup Girl Clothing - designed by Laura Byrnes, has been one of my long term sought after dresses. It's well known for being delightfully figure hugging, keeping all your bits in place without needing any extra shape wear as it's already built in. To me, an item of clothing that can successfully be beautiful whilst simultaneously pulling off built in shape wear, deserves all kinds of awards. I have heard fantastic things from both busty and smaller busted ladies alike.

The shape wear is hidden beneath the dress because of the way the material is gathered. The matte knit also means that the dress refrains from wrinkling, which is always a great feature in my eyes. The entire dress is simply designed to pull you in, creating an effortless looking hourglass figure that will keep heads turning. One of my favourite features of the dress is also how the sleeves sit just off of the shoulders creating a sleek and sexy look.

I've not bought this yet as I am waiting for an event that will give me an opportunity to wear it out. It's incredibly stunning and so sultry; it's just what I need to add to my wardrobe.

What I adore about Pinup Girl Clothing is that they never ignore plus size women; they believe in women of all different sizes and will try to cater for most ladies. Not only do they make incredible dresses, but their ethics are definitely in the right place and that's why I will always shop with them.

'Monica' comes in many different colour ways so you will not be hard up for choice. You can buy directly from Pinup Girl Clothing here, or if you're based in the UK and prefer ordering from a UK stockist than Deadly is the Female is the best place to go.

Hell Bunny - Larissa dress

So I wrote a post on this Hell Bunny - Larissa dress a couple of weeks ago but the images were very low quality so I thought I'd do a brand new one with images from my DSLR.

This dress has been my go-to for the past month as it's just so comfortable and easy to throw on. The colours are very vibrant and colourful - it's the epitome of summer! I love this dress because I feel so pretty in it without making much of an effort.

The belt I'm wearing with this dress is from Pinup Girl clothing but the belt that comes with the dress is very similar. The belt is one of my favourite features of the dress as it really pulls in the waist. There's something about the neckline I really love - so much I bought this style dress in another pattern which you'll see in another blog post coming up soon!

Hell Bunny really do the prettiest of dresses and for such reasonable prices; if you fancy this one, check it out here.
