A most marvellous day out!

What a fabulous day. I organised a meet up from the Marvelletes group on Facebook to go to Cahoots which I'd been to before but had been wanting to go with like-minded people from our 40s/50s Facebook group. It just so happens that Lucy (from Era Go Again & my flatmate) had also organised a meet up at the King's Cross Classic Car Boot Show which was on the same day so we decided to combine them. Unfortunately Lucy couldn't come (but read all about her weekend in Cardiff where she went to a vintage flea market on her blog) but plenty of other Marvelette's did.

Sadly the weather was a bit up and down that day and I was in such a rush, I was feeling so flustered when I met my Mum at King's Cross tube station. All I can say is, thank god I remembered my umbrella then it truly would have been a bad day (for my hair at least).

Myself and my Mum met the gorgeous Carrie from Something Definitely Happened and Catherine from Vintage Frills, Rhina, Nicole from Coco Von Vintage and Holly, The Vintage Girl. It was absolutely amazing to spend the day in the company of these women, whose blogs I all adore and especially all of their styles. What I love about the vintage world, is getting to meet so many different people. For example, Rhina is a Doctor and works at a herbarium, speaks 6 different languages and dresses impeccably with her own vintage style! It's amazing to be in company such as hers. We all have and create our own take on Vintage fashion so it's always inspiring to be around women such as these.

The car boot sale was a pleasure to walk around. As we laughed and joked and checked out all of the clothing stalls, people would keep taking our photos. Some men wanted photos with us! It was utterly bizarre but I think we were the only group that were really dressed up for it. Which is funny, because I don't feel dressed up. This what I like to wear normally. It's strange that it can seem so different to others.

The cars were amazing to look at and I got so much envy at all the vintage clothing I knew I wouldn't be able to fit into; this is why I love vintage reproduction so much!

We also bumped into Florence from The Street Style Carousel who took all of our photos for her blog. As I write this my photo is up on her blog and I absolutely adore it. She's such a talented photographer. It was a really cool experience being photographed by her for her blog as I love her work.

The weather was so stop and start. When it was raining we were huddled by the old routemaster bus-turned-bar sipping our drinks and waiting for the rain to go back in. But when the sun came out, it was glorious.

So after the boot sale, we made our way over to the west end where we enjoyed a drink in the pub before heading to cahoots. Doesn't Nicole look like an absolute princess? I adore her change of outfit! We made our way to Cahoots where we had a two hour table booking.

I'm writing a separate post and review on Cahoots which is to come soon!

I hope you enjoyed reading our adventure x

Wishlist Wednesday #12

I haven't done a wishlist in a while so welcome back! I haven't bought anything from Pinup Girl Clothing in such a long time, it's almost depressing me. However, since I've booked a trip to L.A in January I've decided to not import anything and just go to their boutique when I'm out there. It's ridiculously tempting to just order right away as there are so many bits that I'm currently crrrraaaaving.

1) Betsey Johnson, Call Me! Bag - $100
Uh, just look at it? a phone bag? this is so ridiculously kitsch and I need it now. I reckon this is a 'stop in the street and mention how good it is' type of bag because I would definitely be doing that if I saw someone else wearing this. However, retailing at $100, it's one I'll definitely be saving a while for.

2) Betsey Johnson, Just Your Type Typewriter Pure - $114
This bag is totally trashy in allll of the right ways. It's attention grabbing, stylish but also practical at the same time. I'm a total lover of loud prints like this, I guess I just like the attention huh? Anyway, not only is it cute but it's large enough to carry a lot of your belongings around making this perfect for me for work (not that I need an excuse).

3) Match Accessories, 'D' Disney Inspired Brooch - $22
I can't help but want a beautiful Disney type brooch in my life. Blue and glittery, it's the perfect companion to brighten up any outfit and it's simply gorgeous.

4) Deadly Dames, Darling Dame Fetish Skirt - $98
I've been noticing this skirt floating around on a few blogs recently and I wasn't aware of it's existence until I'd read about it. It looks so similar to the Jenny skirt but this has a shorter hemline and with pockets. Yay, pockets! I'm not entirely sure I can ever pull off red but the 'fetish' print has totally sold me. It's definitely one that'll get weird comments and that's what I like.

5) Burlesque Jenny Skirt - $98
Keeping on with the risque theme, I've had my eye on the dress version of this skirt for a good while now and have just noticed the skirt too. I'm a big fan of the Jenny skirt anyway, but this print is so dreamy!

6) Blue Castle Print Jenny Skirt - $98
Another one I've been admiring for a while but unfortunately is sold out in my size. If I had it I'd pair it with the Peasant top, which sadly, is also sold out in my size, and the 'D' brooch I mentioned above. I'm imagining the outfit together in my head and it sounds so perfect, like a princess. Here's to hoping they get restocked.

So those are my current wishlist picks. What are you after?

Wishlist Wednesday #9

I haven't got the money at the moment to spend money on a dress this much but I can dream though right? There won't be a week where one item from Pinup Girl Clothing isn't on one of my wishlists so I'm afraid this is probably a little predictable! What I love about this dress though is that it can easily be dressed up or down and be worn as a day dress or a night one. The capped sleeves make for an adorable day look when worn with some flats whilst the bold red can be easily transitioned into a night time look with some heels.

Heart of Haute is a vintage reproduction clothing brand that I've only just recently discovered. I must have been living under a rock because I have no idea how I've missed their gorgeous dresses all this time but it's better late than never right? So I have my eye on this gorgeous green wiggle dress which is very much giving off the vibes of 'Joan from Mad Men' and as much as I don't have her body type, I'd still like to think I'd look banging in it anyway. So yeah, maybe one day I'll get to find out.

I've been after these for a while because they look amazing! I have a few pairs of capris but every person that I've seen wear these, they look incredibly flattering on. I'm really trying to build my separates collection because obviously you can mix and match to create different looks and this pair also comes with a belt and that's something I'm generally always a fan of.

4) Vivien of Holloway, swing trousers - £49 - £55
My want and ~utter~ need for these swing trousers does not limit itself to strictly this particular style; Vivien of Holloway do these style in various colours, patterns and couple of different materials so you're most definitely spoilt for choice when it comes down to picking which pair you fancy. For months I'd been after this particular denim pair but honestly, I couldn't work out whether I'd suit this style of trouser or not and whether I should stick to dresses and skirts. Fortunately, I've now decided I don't really give a rats ass whether I "suit" them or not so I need some in my life! Depending on which colour or material you go for, they range from £49 to £55 which is really reasonable when you know the high standard of clothing you're getting fron VOH.

5) Collectif, Strawberry bamboo bag - £33
I feel like I'm not a real vintage style girl without a bamboo or wicker style bag in my life. If you regularly read my wishlists, you may know I'm sucker for fruit, animals and kitsch prints in general so it shouldn't be a surprise that I've had my eye on this. Perfect for sunny afternoons either at the park or the beach, it's just so adorable but definitely out of my price range for now.

6) B.A.I.T Footwear, Beatrice pink shoes - $75
I'm forever wishing to expand my B.A.I.T Footwear collection because WHY NOT?! No but seriously, they're my favourite vintage repro footwear brand because their shoes are ridiculously cute; from flats (I'm wearing a pair right now and they are so sturdy and comfy) to heels that can both be transitioned from day time to night time and still leave your feet like they're fully intact, it's really hard not to love this brand. I love these particular style as I love the t-bar straps and the heels on the shoes are always such a perfect size that they are always comfortable, especially with the slight platform too,

That's my wishlist for this week, let me know in the comments what you are after!

Wishlist Wednesday #8

1) Regina Vintage Polka Dot dress by Collectif, £25 (on sale at the moment!)
One of the things I've loved about Collectif's Spring/Summer collection this year is how much of it is pastel colour based. If you read last week's Wishlist Wednesday, you might have read about my complete obsession over pastel colours so it's not really surprising that *here I am* again still going on about it, woops. Anyway, this dress is utterly gorgeous and although it's utterly saddening to think it won't be that long until Summer is over, I am determined to have this in my life to see me through the last warm-ish days we have left in the UK. A key feature of this dress which I adore is the sleeves which gives off a bolero style vibe.

2) Erstwilder's Dolly's Diner Americana Red brooch - Audrey Star's Boutique, £16.95
I've yet to own a Erstwilder brooch but I've been lusting after them for what feels like FOREVER. They are always so cute; a mixture of kitsch and quirky designs that are ideal for adding fun to any
outfit. I found it hard to pick just one of these brooches so please just assume that their ENTIRE collection is on my wishlist, except that this diner one is definitely at the top of this list right now.

3) Miss L Fire Nevada Pastel sandal - Campbell-Crafts, £80
Miss L Fire shoes are just far too expensive for me, wahhhh. I know I'll invest in a pair at some point but I can never really justify spending the money. I bloody love this pair and even though they are on sale at £80, I still can't afford them. It's just one of those things you have to lust at from afar. To be fair, I do that with most of their shoe collection but I really love the mixture of pastel colours on this pair.

4) Yellow Dee Dee dress by Pinup Couture - Pinup Girl Clothing, $160
Uh, can we talk about how PERFECT Junebugs and Georgia Peaches collaboration with Pinup Girl Clothing is?! I genuinely think it's a life goal to work with a brand like Pinup Girl Clothing so I'm totally envious but at the same time so excited about this because these two ladies have the most perfect taste ever and so do the team at PUG. It was hard to choose a dress I love the most out of the collection of dresses so far but I *think* this Dee Dee dress nabs it by just a bit. From the cute pastel yellow (which goes perfectly with the Miss L Fire shoes by the way) to the detail in the dotted trim, this dress is definitely perfect for a 50s daytime look. Also, aren't those puffed sleeves and Peter Pan collar just adorable?

5) 'Marlene' Floral Day dress - Lindy Bop, £34.99
I recently bought two other colour ways in this new Lindy Bop dress (reviews will be up on the blog soon) and I'm in love! I've been looking for a dress in this style for SO long at an affordable price and I was ecstatic when I discovered this new addition to their website. I'm now determined to own all of the patterns and I really hope they design more. How perfect would a pastel pink gingham pattern be? eeek,

6) 'Paris' dress - Bernie Dexter, £110
I'm not sure if I'll ever own a Bernie Dexter dress to be honest which is why this is on my wishlist. They are very expensive so as much as I REALLY WANT a Paris dress, I just can't go splurging £110 on a dress, which doesn't actually look too dissimilar from the new Lindy Bop 'Marlene' which is obviously a lot cheaper. However, this Bernie Dexter comes with lipstick pockets which the idea of makes me so happy. The shelf bust detail is also appealing to me as well as the fact the dress is made in the USA so the quality is bound to be great.

So that's this weeks wishlist! Hopefully, I keep on making this a weekly thing as I know I've been a bit slack on this recently.

Wednesday Wishlist #1 | Pinup Girl Clothing edition

It's not really a secret that I am FOREVER lusting after Pinup Girl Clothing. Not too long ago, I spent a small fortune on ordering from them thinking it would subdue my urges - unfortunately, it just made them stronger. Finally getting to wear some of their beautiful clothes has given me a taste for their stunning collections and I'm always wanting more.

But I am saving for a house, so there will be no dress buying from me! I will only be lusting after these beauties from afar..I've become very strict on myself now as I want to move out now more than ever and on my budget for the next few months, there is no way I'm going to be able to afford any of these beauties! I do however, have a birthday coming up in a couple of months...;)

With recent additions such as their Mary Blair collection, I am swooning harder than ever, It's pretty much taking all my strength not to add things to my basket and put in all of my details.

If you've never bought any items from Pinup Girl Clothing, I could not recommend them any more than I already do. DeadlyIsTheFemale is a fantastic UK based stockist; however, when I want something from PUG that they do not stock, I order directly from Pinup Girl Clothing's website. Yes the delivery is around $30 and you do get hit with a customs tax bill - and as much as I hate both of those things, they are insanely worth it. You may have read me mention this in previous reviews of my Pinup Couture dresses!

1) Jenny dress in orange border print by Pinup Couture- $142
This is a dress I've been lusting after for so long, I just really admire the body and shape of the dress whilst the white and orange prints really work well together, in my opinion.

2) Peasant top in baby pink by Pinup Couture - $56
Up until a few weeks ago, I never really was a fan of gypsy style tops. I'm not sure why and what changed my mind but the more I browsed the internet, the more they grew on me. Now I'm in love with this one - I have the Zooey top in this colour and it's so gorgeous.

3) Lydia dress in rose border print by Pinup Couture - $142
I'm an absolute sucker for floral prints and this dress never fails to catch my eye. Not only that, I just love the blue and white together, it's gorgeous and it'll make for a lovely summertime dress, I can imagine myself picnic-ing in this one!

4) Jenny dress in Mary Blair Commuter print by Pinup Couture - $148
Again, I just love this style of dress and I think bringing a mid-century modern art design to life through a dress is wonderful. The olive green and black are lovely colours and I could see myself wearing this right into next winter! Well, considering I work with commuters almost daily as part of my living, I thought this might be a fun addition to my wardrobe.

I'd just like to clarify that I am lusting after these in all the colour-ways, just not just exclusively red. I mean, I could also say that goes for the entire PUG website too, haha. I love a bold red, I just bought something similar from Primark actually in this colour but obviously these have the advantage of being high-waisted, being made in America and being of fantastic quality and fit.

6 2" faux leather belt in black by Pinup Couture - $14I really do love belts and I am always looking to expand my collection. What I am lacking in though, is wide and chunky belts. I am a huge fan of PUG's belts as they are of great quality and I find they rarely break or wear out as easily as other brands belts do. Anyway, I don't really have any black belts, I usually go for white so I'd like something a bit different.

So that's my wishlist for now!
What do you love about Pinup Girl Clothing and what are you lusting after?

OOTD: B.A.I.T, Lindy Bop, Pinup Couture

Hey guys! I'm bring you my Outfit Of The Day which feature two new items of clothing.

I've had an incredible couple of days for post - today 3 pairs of new shoes turned up (including these blue ones) and yesterday these beautiful capri pants and another top and a Hell Bunny dress came.

THAT'S IT THOUGH. I'm officially on a spending ban! I don't *need* anymore clothes, I NEED a house.

Obviously it's been a fantastic few days for weather, so I've been using the garden for prime photo taking opportunities. I'm still learning the ins and outs of photography, so I know these photos aren't great. I'm still trying to find the best ways of manually shooting in bright sunlight and it's not been great so I've had some crappy Photoshop adjusting doing. I don't feel great about these photos to be honest, but the more I keep at it I know the better I'll be.

I'm having an absolute love/hate relationship with this Zooey top from Pinup Girl Clothing. It's stunning, the fit is beautiful on the body and the quality is golden. The bust however, was made for someone with bigger boobs and will definitely need altering which will be no problem. It's so gorgeous!

The belt is a patented one from Pinup Girl Clothing. The capri's are brand new from Lindy Bop. The print IS GORGEOUS! I was wondering whether they'd be high waisted enough for me and they are. I ordered a 16 because I haven't worn capris before but there is loads of room in these so if I ever buy another pair (there are other colours/patterns which I am totally lusting after) I will order in a 14.

I'm also wearing my brand new shoes from B.A.I.T Footwear; I finally found a UK stockist with shoes I wanted and they were only £25 a pair! Unfortunately the website I bought them from have now taken their stock down.

Pinup Girl Clothing - Birdie dress.

Just recently, I finally broke down and made my first order from the amazing Pin Up Girl clothing. It's been a long time coming as I haven't really been able to afford to buy anything from them, because being based in the U.K, we have to face the international shipping and import tax charges. Alas, it was all worth it. I thought to myself - 'you're always going to want these dresses, so why not just order some now and get the feelings out of the way', so I did. But let's be honest, it really doesn't take much to convince myself to buy myself new clothes. Considering I'm supposed to be saving for a house, this really was a naughty purchase of mine but I think it was worth it as I've never been in a better position financially before.

Ultimately, the whole experience with the brand from ordering to delivery, has been fantastic. One of my pet peeves about some websites, especially with vintage reproduction, is not knowing what else the model, who is wearing the product you're looking at, is also wearing. For example, I am looking at a skirt online and the model is wearing that skirt, I also notice that model is wearing a fantastic matching top or shoes but when websites don't let you know what else that model is wearing or what you could pair with that skirt, it's slightly annoying. However, this is why I love PUG; on every item they looked at, they had a 'buy this look' section where you could take a sneak peek/possibly buy matching items. I bought a skirt (which I'll blog at some point) and I was wondering what to buy with it, so I was happy that they linked to what the model was wearing, so I had a cute outfit.

The delivery -

I couldn't believe how quick the delivery was. I bought 3 dresses, a top and a skirt so I ended up getting the delivery for free. From ordering to reaching my door, the delivery took about 5 days and this was over a weekend. For an international delivery, this was fantastic. Imagine coming home after working all day, you've been yelled at by various different strangers so you're in a cranky mood, and you see a big box on your bed. I think that moment needs to be bottled up and kept, it was great!
Anyway, just a word of warning - although I suspect most people know about this already - I received an import tax charge from FedEx a couple of weeks later which was quite pricey. I still thought it was worth it.

The 'Birdie' dress -

Ahhhhh the dress is amazing! I can safely say that I have never ever owned a dress that is of such good quality like a Pin Up Girl dress. From the first touch, you can tell that their dresses are made of high quality materiel; 97% cotton and 3% spandex infact. The dress is soft to touch and it feels strong. Okay, that may sound like strange adjective, but I have had dresses that have definitely felt weak and breakable.

I ordered the XL size dress because it was the one the matched my waist size. I think I could have gotten away with the L actually, but I can make this work. I think this Birdie is absolutely perfect for the summer; the colours are so vibrant and fresh. I personally would never have put the pink and blue together but I'm glad I went with this colour way as I think it's stunning to look at.

The skirt is lovely and full; I added a Vivien of Holloway petticoat to it but I honestly feel the dress is just as full without it! I adore the belt too, for once there is enough holes in the belt for it to make an impact on my waist so it really nips me in. I love that it is a wide one too, I'm too used to using skinny waist belts, it makes a nice change. The 3/4 length sleeves are perfect for those days that it's warm but with a breeze, so you don't need another layer on top. Moreover, I mostly like having my upper arms covered up so it's perfect for me.

I moan about my small chest a lot, but I feel I would have benefited from this dress a bit more if I had a larger bust. This a universal problem I have with all dresses; I am a plus sized girl with small boobs so I need larger dresses to fit the waist but I never have the boobs to fill out the top. If I was a smaller size I could just size down the dress but the waist won't fit. Body woes, aye? It's nothing a bit of pinning or a bullet bra can't sort out though so no fear!

Overall, I'm just in love with this dress, I'm in love with PUG clothing as a company. I cannot wait to wear this out more over the summer! I hope this was a little insightful.

I will showcase the rest of my order in upcoming posts!
