Wishlist Wednesday #11 | Lindy Bop edition.

I've decided to make this weeks 'Wishlist Wednesday' a Lindy Bop special because I feel they have upped their dress game so much recently as all I've been after is these amazing dresses. I love to blog about Lindy Bop because as they have fantastic customer relations; there's something about a brand that appreciates it's customers, especially through social media, that makes a company stand out for me. Because of this, they are definitely one of my vintage reproduction brands to buy from.

1. 'Colette' Yellow Gingham Swing Dress - £34.99
It's never too late in the year to purchase a summery gingham dress. Well, it has become a confusing September; it feels like it's been slightly warmer and summery in the last two days than the entirety of August and let's be honest, I hope it stays that way. So anyway, this design is just stunning and at only £34.99 it's a real bargain. I can imagine that this dress is an absolute dream to dress up. The 'Colette' is a new addition to the Lindy Bop collection and comes in four colour ways, and I'll be making sure that I snap up all of them.

2. 'Audrey' Red Check Swing Dress - £29.99
The beauty of this red check 'Audrey' is accentuated by the cute bateau neckline, a totally fitted bodice and skirt that flares out. I haven't really fancied any of the other prints/colours in the 'Audrey' style before, but I know they look incredible on other people and this pattern is just so gorgeous I think it's actually convinced me otherwise about wanting one.

3. Tuesday Pink Coral Doris Day Swing Dress - £34.99
Okay when I saw this dress I immediately screamed inside. I mean LOOK AT IT; it is absolute perfection and if a dress could sum up the word 'adorable' this would be it. It should be the picture representative of the word 'adorable' in the dictionary. What's not to love? the coral colour is so elegant - and actually a colour I don't wear enough - but I've really fallen for the cut out neckline and the peter pan style collar. I totally have the perfect shoes to wear with this one too, it was like they were meant to be.

4. 'Edith' Green and Navy Floral Shirt Dress - £29.99
I've been admiring this dress because it looks like it could be quite versatile; going from a day dress to an evening one depending on the type of shoes and accessories you may be rocking. However, I also have yet to own a proper shirt dress and this looks like a good one to buy if I'm not sure about splashing out on a much coveted Vivien of Holloway one just yet. I totally envision myself wearing this to a diner, it just has that feel.

5. 'Xandra' Ditzy Deer Summer Dress - £29.99
What a sweet sweet print this dress has; adorned in little pastel coloured deers, this is definitely one for me as I'm a big kitsch print lover as well as being quite fond of deer. My need for this is only encouraged by it being in my ultimate favourite colour, pastel blue. Although it comes with the dress, I'm generally not a fan of Lindy Bop's included as they can feel too flimsy, I think that's okay though because I can always just add my own to create a smaller waist.

6. 'Henrietta' Sky Blue Wiggle Dress - £29.99
I'm already loving Lindy Bop's 'Heidi' version of this dress that has been out for a long while now so it's no surprise to myself that I have this one on my wishlist too. I almost prefer this dress more as it has the added peplum detail around the waist and I generally think it makes dresses a little more glamorous. The colours are astounding; the flashes of red against the blue work so well and will definitely liven up any room you'd wear this in.

Wishlist Wednesday #9

I haven't got the money at the moment to spend money on a dress this much but I can dream though right? There won't be a week where one item from Pinup Girl Clothing isn't on one of my wishlists so I'm afraid this is probably a little predictable! What I love about this dress though is that it can easily be dressed up or down and be worn as a day dress or a night one. The capped sleeves make for an adorable day look when worn with some flats whilst the bold red can be easily transitioned into a night time look with some heels.

Heart of Haute is a vintage reproduction clothing brand that I've only just recently discovered. I must have been living under a rock because I have no idea how I've missed their gorgeous dresses all this time but it's better late than never right? So I have my eye on this gorgeous green wiggle dress which is very much giving off the vibes of 'Joan from Mad Men' and as much as I don't have her body type, I'd still like to think I'd look banging in it anyway. So yeah, maybe one day I'll get to find out.

I've been after these for a while because they look amazing! I have a few pairs of capris but every person that I've seen wear these, they look incredibly flattering on. I'm really trying to build my separates collection because obviously you can mix and match to create different looks and this pair also comes with a belt and that's something I'm generally always a fan of.

4) Vivien of Holloway, swing trousers - £49 - £55
My want and ~utter~ need for these swing trousers does not limit itself to strictly this particular style; Vivien of Holloway do these style in various colours, patterns and couple of different materials so you're most definitely spoilt for choice when it comes down to picking which pair you fancy. For months I'd been after this particular denim pair but honestly, I couldn't work out whether I'd suit this style of trouser or not and whether I should stick to dresses and skirts. Fortunately, I've now decided I don't really give a rats ass whether I "suit" them or not so I need some in my life! Depending on which colour or material you go for, they range from £49 to £55 which is really reasonable when you know the high standard of clothing you're getting fron VOH.

5) Collectif, Strawberry bamboo bag - £33
I feel like I'm not a real vintage style girl without a bamboo or wicker style bag in my life. If you regularly read my wishlists, you may know I'm sucker for fruit, animals and kitsch prints in general so it shouldn't be a surprise that I've had my eye on this. Perfect for sunny afternoons either at the park or the beach, it's just so adorable but definitely out of my price range for now.

6) B.A.I.T Footwear, Beatrice pink shoes - $75
I'm forever wishing to expand my B.A.I.T Footwear collection because WHY NOT?! No but seriously, they're my favourite vintage repro footwear brand because their shoes are ridiculously cute; from flats (I'm wearing a pair right now and they are so sturdy and comfy) to heels that can both be transitioned from day time to night time and still leave your feet like they're fully intact, it's really hard not to love this brand. I love these particular style as I love the t-bar straps and the heels on the shoes are always such a perfect size that they are always comfortable, especially with the slight platform too,

That's my wishlist for this week, let me know in the comments what you are after!

Oh Gwyneth....

I'm the absolute tool who has been spreading these images around my social media before I even bothered to write the post. The problem is, when I try a dress on and I *feel fantastic* I go to take blog photos, then I love the photos so much I just have to Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr them all before I've even had the chance of writing a blog post. I can imagine I am very annoying to anyone who follows me on any of those formats; particularly Instagram to which I am a self-confessed addict.

So I first wore this to the Pinup Picnic In The Park event back in June but I have not worn it since. It was a second-hand buy from a lady on Facebook and I feel I really lucked out with this one. Now, I'm an owner of other Voodoo Vixen dresses, but I was glad to get this one second-hand as I didn't know how their wiggle dresses would fit me. I mean, I was rather happy when I came across this on Facebook because I couldn't afford it at full price, not knowing what the fit would be like (and yeah, VV dresses are really reasonable) so I thought I'd rather take this opportunity to try the dress at a slightly cheaper price but pre-owned.

Thankfully, and to my utter delight, the dress arrived in pretty much perfect condition. To me, it looked brand new. Fit wise, it isn't perfect on me but these days, I tend to size up on wiggle dresses; I'm a little self concious of my belly and my weight is constantly fluctuating so I'm scared of wearing my ACTUAL SIZE. Silly, I know. However, I needn't have worried here as it's clear that this dress isn't skin tight and didn't leave me feeling vulnerable. In fact, I would have quite happily have sized down and not feel like all my lumpy bits - which I am constantly trying to love - were on show. I believe the dress is still wearable despite the considerable amount of room on my shoulders (at some points during the picnic, the shoulders kept falling down but I found it rather amusing).

So the dress does come with it's own belt but personally, I found it wasn't sturdy enough for me so that I could cinch in my waist. In these photos, I'm wearing my What Katie Did - Morticia corset so obviously my waist looks tinier than normal and with ALL this extra room, I turned to my trusty white waist belt from eBay to tie the look together. This isn't a thing with just this particular dress because any dress that I buy that comes with a belt, I usually replace it with another..I'm a bit fussy like that you see.

I need to talk about how gorgeous the print is though; the nautical theme suits me through and through as you may or may not have seen my anchor tattoo on my forearm. I'm a bit fan of this theme so it's fabulous when I get to incorporate it into my wardrobe. I feel the navy and white colours of this dress make it a really simple yet classy outfit to wear as it doesn't really make a statement as such but can easily be dressed up as it can be dressed down. Also, can we PLEASE notice the POCKETS?! Yes, a dress that has pockets is the Holy Grail.

Made of 97% cotton with 3% elastane, there is a touch of stretch so it is very forgiving on the body, as I mentioned before. The one part of it I do really love is how thick the dress feels; it really doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. Yet I was let down in the buttons department; within a few hours of my second wear, the buttons down the front started withering away and falling off. This isn't the first time this has happened to me with a dress. It happened on my other Voodoo Vixen 'Tilly' dress, a Lindy Bop dress and now this. I'm starting to become wary of buying dresses with sown on buttons because they just fall off so quickly. I mean, it's alright when you have the spare button which comes with most dresses...but when more than one falls off and it's in public and you can't retrieve it, you start looking silly. For me, this aspect ruined (a teeny tiny bit, I will find other buttons to sow on, I refuse to let this get me down) the dress slightly, but not much.

I'm so impressed with the way this dress makes my body look (even without the corset on underneath) as it gives it a silhouette and perfectly outlines my figure. Moreover, the dress is just rather pleasing to the eye and I'm totally in love with the cut of it. The kick pleat at the back does help, along with the slight stretch in the dress, to walk around and sit down in (like when you're sitting around at picnics!)

Now I know their pencil dresses fit me well enough, I have my eye on the 'Allison' dress, you can see here. This one is going straight to my wishlist and I will be purchasing brand new, because who doesn't love a new parcel in the post anyway?!
